Gardai are on the hunt for a man they believe helped carry out a cash-in-transit raid in south Dublin.

They have already arrested one man after a security officer was held up this morning in Clondalkin.

A security worker was delivering cash to Bawnogue Shopping Centre at around 11.20am this morning when he was approached by two men.

One of them pointed what looked like a gun at him and ordered him to hand over the money. The worker complied and the pair made their escape in a jeep that was waiting nearby.

A passing patrol car spotted the jeep leaving the car park and a short chase ensued. A man in his 30s was arrested at Kilmahuddrick and the money was recovered.

A weapon - believed to be a handgun - was also found and is being tested by firearms experts.

Gardai say they are still looking for at least one other suspect in connection with the raid and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward

Anyone with any information should contact Clondalkin Garda Station on 01-6667600, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800-0666-111 or any garda station.
