A man in his 20s has been arrested after a complaint was made to Gardaí about his behaviour by a female politician from the West.  

Neither of the individuals have been named by Gardaí.

The man was arrested for an alleged offence under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997 - which was amended by Section 23 of the Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2023, Stalking.

He is currently detained at a Garda station.
