A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman on Dublin's southside.
Maria Carroll's body was found at a house in Firhouse three days ago.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to a house at Woodlawn Park Grove in Firhouse at around 1.30 on Sunday afternoon.
Inside they found the lifeless body of a woman who has since been identified as Maria Carroll.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and her death was initially treated as a "personal tragedy".
However, the garda investigation was upgraded to a manslaughter probe after the results of a post mortem were made available yesterday.
It is understood they showed she died from a serious trauma to the head.
As part of the investigation, a man (58) was arrested in Dublin last night.
He was taken to Rathfarnham garda station where he can be held for questioning for a total of 24 hours.
