A man has been arrested following a a burglary at the home of a 69-year-old woman in Kilmacrennan Co. Donegal in the early hours of this morning.

A man broke into her home at around 3:45pm.

Gardaí say he forced his way into her bedroom and demanded cash before fleeing empty-handed.

The woman was alone in the house and was not injured in the incident.

A 24-year-old man was arrested a short time later.

He is being detained at Letterkenny Garda Station.
