A man remains in Garda custody this afternoon in relation to an armed robbery in Dublin last night. The man in his 30s was arrested at the scene after gardai intercepted the robbery at an off-licence on Ninth Lock Road in Clondalkin.
Two officers noticed two men jump from a car and enter the off-licence. The two men were initally believed to have been armed with a firearm. They threatened staff and took cash from the till.
One man pointed what later turned out to be an imitation firearm at the Gardaí and tried to escape. He was detained following a struggle. The imitation firearm and stolen cash were recovered.
He is being held at Clondalkin Garda station under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act.
The second man is still being sought.
