A Vietnamese man has been arrested following a significant drugs seizure in Co. Galway this morning.
€100,000 worth of cannabis plant was discovered at a private dwelling close to Loughrea.
Members of the Loughrea District Drugs Unit and Galway Divisional Drugs Unit carried out a planned search of the house in Raheen, Oughter at 9:30am this morning.
They uncovered a sophisticated hydroponic cannabis cultivation factory and seized cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €100,000.
A 47-year-old Vietnamese national was arrested under section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act.
He is being held at Loughrea Garda station and can be questioned for up to 7 days.
The scene is now being preserved pending the arrival of the divisional Scenes of Crimes Unit.
Galway Gardaí say the search is part on an on-going operation into illegal cannabis growing.
