Gardai in Waterford city are investigating an incident in which a garda sergeant was struck by a car and dragged along the bonnet for a short time.
It happened in the St. Herblain Park at around 3pm yesterday afternoon.
The sergeant was responding to a traffic accident when he was hit an Audi car and carried on the bonnet for 5 or 6 metres up the road before being thrown off.

The incident happened in the St. Herblain Park area
He sustained only minor injuries.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
