Gardaí in county Wexford are investigating the death of a woman following an incident in the early hours of this morning.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was found unconscious at a house in Gorey in the early hours of this morning.

Just after 3am this morning, Gardaí and emergency services were called to an incident at a house in Baile Eoghain, Gorey.

The woman, who is understood to be 34 years old, was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 30s has been arrested and is currently being held at a Garda station in the Eastern Region.

The scene has been preserved and the State pathologist has been notified with Gardaí remaining on site.

Gardaí are appealing to witnesses to come forward.

Investigations are ongoing.
