A man has been arrested after a young woman was attacked in Cork. 

At 9.40 this morning, Gardaí were called out to a home in the city where they found an injured woman. 

The crime scene has been preserved for a technical examination and, in a follow up search, a man in his 40s was arrested. 

He remains detained in a Garda Station in the city and investigations are ongoing.
