A man in his 70s has been released without charge after being detained in Cork by gardaí investigating allegations of sexual offences surrounding Scouting Ireland.
As part of the investigation, four properties in Co Cork and one in Co Kerry were searched yesterday- with documents, electronic devices and computers seized.
The man, who was being held at Togher Garda Station, was released last night.
Gardaí say that a file will be prepared for the DPP.
In a statement yesterday, the force said: "Each and every complaint made to An Garda Síochána will be investigated with professionalism and compassion.
"An Garda Síochána is appealing to any victim(s) who have not yet come forward to make a complaint at their local Garda station or via the confidential historical abuse phone line at 1800 555 222."
