A man has been arrested after a man died following an assault in Co Waterford early this morning.
An injured man was discovered at a house in Portlaw just before 3am this morning.
Emergency services attended the scene and the man, aged in his 40s, was taken to University Hospital Waterford.
He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Gardaí say they're investigating all the circumstances of the man's death.
They are expected to launch a murder investigation, and the scene of the assault been sealed off for a forensic examination.
A man in his 20s was arrested in connection with the investigation.
He is currently being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Tramore Garda Station.
