A man has been arrested following the death of a suspected gunman in Dublin on Christmas Eve.
Tristian Sherry was stabbed multiple times at a restaurant in Blanchardstown.
Mr Sherry walked into a busy steakhouse in Blanchardstown on Christmas Eve with a machine gun and opened fire, injuring a man in his 40s.
However it is believed as Mr Sherry tried to flee the scene he got stuck as the door he tried to get out of was locked.
The 25-year-old was then confronted, disarmed and stabbed multiple times.
He was pronounced dead a short time later in hospital.
The attack has been linked to a criminal feud.
Gardaí have now arrested a man in connection with the incident.
He is being questioned at a Garda station in West Dublin and can be held for up to 24 hours.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has described the incident as 'shocking', adding that he has visited the restaurant 'many times'.
Shocked to hear about the shooting today in Blanchardstown in a well known family restaurant I’ve visited many times.
Full Garda investigation underway. My thanks to them and solidarity to staff and customers.— Leo Varadkar (@LeoVaradkar) December 25, 2023
