A man has been arrested following the discovery of a woman's body in an apartment in Cork City.

Gardaí found the body at around half six this morning on Liberty Street.

The body remains at the scene and a technical exam will be carried out by the Garda Technical Bureau.

The man, who is aged in his 20s, was arrested this morning and is currently detained in Bridewell Garda Station.

Gardaí say the results of a post mortem exam will determine the course of their investigation.
