A man in his 20's arrested in connection with the death of a pensioner in a road traffic collision in Co Kildare today has been released without charge.
A file is now being prepared for the DPP.
At around 2 o'clock this afternoon Gardaí at Clane County Kildare were called to the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the Dublin Road.
Once there they found a male cyclist in his 80s had been struck and killed by a car.
The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving and brought to Naas Garda Station where this evening he was released without charge.
Meanwhile, the victim was removed to Naas General Hospital for a post mortem examination.
The stretch of road has now reopened following an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
