A man has been arrested in connection with a suspected arson attack on two red-brick houses in Limerick.
Gardaí said they were alerted to a fire at one of the houses at approximately 9.40pm and “the fire had spread to an adjoining property”.
“Fire Services attended the scene and the fire was brought under control. Significant damage was caused to both properties,” a Garda spokesperson said.
A man in his early 40s was arrested in the early hours of this morning, Gardaí have confirmed.
Investigators said both houses were vacant at the time of the suspected attack.
Gardaí said there was significant damage done to both properties.
The semi-detached three-storey 19th century red brick houses are located on the Ennis Road in west Limerick City.
Several units of Limerick City and County Fire and Rescue Service fought the blaze overnight with support from Clare Fire and Rescue Service.
