A man has been arrested in north Dublin after Gardaí recovered a gun and a device.
Officers were called to a report of a man armed with a gun in the Poppintree area of Ballymun at around 4.45pm on Monday.
Garda Armed Support Units and local units were sent to the scene.
A male aged in his 30s was arrested shortly afterwards by unarmed Gardaí.
A firearm was recovered at a house on Cranogue Road in Ballymun.
The area around the house was also sealed off due to the discovery of a device in the property.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team has been sent to the property.
The man was taken to Ballymun Garda Station, where he is being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris said: "The Gardaí involved showed great bravery in ensuring the safety of the public."
