A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run in Cork city.
Gardaí said a 23-year-old woman suffered “serious life changing injuries” after she was hit by a car while out walking on Magazine Street last Saturday.
It happened at around 3:15am and investigators said the car failed to remain at the scene.
This afternoon Gardaí said they had arrested a man in his 20s in connection with the incident and seized his car.
He is being held at the Bridewell Garda Station.
Yesterday Gardaí appealed for witnesses and said the car involved was believed to be a dark coloured Volkswagen Polo.
They said it may have slight damage to the front and rear of the vehicle.
Any witnesses or drivers who were in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage are urged to contact Gardaí.
