A man has been arrested in connection to the capital murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe in 2013.

Detective Garda Donohoe was shot dead in the line of duty during an armed robbery outside Lordship Credit Union in Co Louth in January 2013.

Gardaí today confirmed a man was taken into custody at around 8:30am this morning in connection with the investigation into the murder.

He is now being held at Dundalk Garda Station.
