Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with a shooting in broad daylight near a primary school in Dublin last year.

36-year-old Benjamin (Benny) Whitehouse was shot dead at Clonard Street in Balbriggan on the 25th of September 2014.

He and his partner had just dropped their child off at St Peter and Paul National School nearby.

His partner was also shot in the leg.

This morning gardaí in Ardee in Co Louth arrested a 39-year-old man,

He is being detained at Balbriggan Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.
