A man has been arrested in connection with the death of Ian Baitson, who was killed in Cobh, Co Cork, on March 15.
The man in his 30s is being detained in a Cork Garda station on suspicion of murder and can be held for up to 24 hours.
Mr Baitson died at Cork University Hospital on Tuesday after he was attacked with a samurai sword in a carpark on Newtown Road in Cobh on March 15.
Following a postmortem examination on Tuesday, Gardaí announced they were treating his death as murder.
Gardaí in Cork have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
They are particularly interested in anyone with dashcam footage who were on Newtown Road between 8.45pm and 9.15pm.
