A man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Clondalkin on Saturday, January 4th.

The alleged assault took place at approximately 5pm in a car park on St Cuthbert's Road.

A man in his 40s was seriously injured and is currently receiving treatment at Beaumont Hospital - where his condition is described as critical.

A man in his 20s is being questioned by Gardaí attached to the Serious Crime South Unit.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Investigations are ongoing.
