A man has been arrested and a car seized following a cross-country chase. The vehicle was stopped near Palmerstown last night.

At around 7:15pm last night a car was taken from Castle Street in Roscommon Town.

Over two hours later at approximately 9:30pm the car was spotted by the Dublin Regional Traffic Division on the N4 near Palmerstown.

It failed to stop for gardai and was intercepted a short time later on St Johns Road West.

A man (21) was arrested in Heuston Station after he fled the scene on foot. He was taken to Kilmainham garda station where he was later released on bail.

He is expected to before Dublin District Court next month charged in connection with the incidents.

Gardaí say the investigation is ongoing.
