A teenager has been arrested after the seizure of a firearm in Tallaght in south Dublin.

Gardai from Tallaght District Drugs Unit arrested the man (19) following the seizure of a firearm at Jobstown Road at around 12:40am this morning.

Gardai had responded to a call and arrived to see a man holding a weapon. He attempted to leave the area and was chased on foot.

Gardai managed to disarm and arrest him.

He is being held at Tallaght garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
