A man has been arrested for sim-swapping, account takeover and money laundering.
The 27-year-old man was arrested after a home was searched in Tallaght yesterday morning.
He is currently being detained and questioned in Clondalkin Garda Station as part of an ongoing investigation by the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau into sim-swapping, account takeover and money laundering.
Gardaí had identified a supplier of SIM cards, used to facilitate smishing or sim swap fraud.
It followed an extensive investigation into fraudulent sim swap attacks, targeting customers of an Irish bank.
The bank lost some €200,000 as a result.
Another man has already been charged and convicted in connection with the case.
