Police in Wales say Mark Bridger has now been arrested on suspicion of the murder of April Jones.
Detectives have until 5pm this evening to question the 46-year-old at which time they must charge or release him.
The search for the missing 5-year-old is in its 5th day.
April was abducted on Monday evening while she was out playing with friends near her home in the town of Machynlleth.
Specialist search teams working in hostile weather conditions are focusing on the area around the local river.
Meanwhile a leading forensic psychologist who advised police in the search for Madeleine McCann is reportedly helping detectives in the April Jones case.
Her home town is decked out in pink ribbons at the suggestion of her mother.
This is April’s favourite colour and has become a symbol of hope.
At a news conference this morning Detective Superintendent Reg Bevan said her family have been told the investigation has been upgraded to murder.
