A man questioned about the murder of an inmate at Cloverhill Prison in Dublin over the weekend has been released without charge.
A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the prison following an “incident” in the early hours of the morning on Saturday.
Gardaí and emergency services were called and the man was treated at the scene; however, he died a short time later.
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday afternoon.
He has since been released from Garda custody without charge and file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The Garda investigation is ongoing.
All deaths in custody are also investigated by the office of the Inspector of Prisons.
The Irish Prison Service has expressed its condolences to the dead’s man’s family and friends.
