A man in his 60s is being held in connection with the death of another man in Kilkenny city.
Gardaí have said they are investigating "all the circumstances" of the suspected fatal assault on Monday.
The 37-year-old man, who is believed to have been stabbed, was discovered at a house at Meadow Way on the Castlecomer Road at approximately 6pm.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, where the body remains.
The State Pathologist and Coroner's Office have been notified.
The scene is currently preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
A man aged in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
He is currently being held at Kilkenny Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
