In the UK, a 31-year-old man's been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences, following a TV interview with the BBC Newsnight programme. In the interview Abu Nusaybah, who claims to be a friend of Michael Adebolajo, - one of two suspects arrested over the Woolwich killing – told the BBC MI5 once approached one of the Woolwich murder suspects, with a view to getting the man to work for the security organisation.
Abu Nusaybah, a friend of one of the suspects, was speaking to the BBC and was arrested under terror legislation mere minutes after the completion of his TV interview.
Meanwhile, a preliminary report into what the intelligence services knew about the two suspects will be delivered to the British Prime Minister David Cameron next week.
The Guardian reports that Nusaybah is connected with extremists, formerly of the banned group al-Muhajiroun.
During the interview Nusaybah spoke of Adebolajo’s torture in Kenya, and harassment by MI5 in England, citing them as factors involved in his friend’s radicalisation.
