Police in India are investigating the alleged rape of a young Irish woman.

The 21 year old girl, who's working in Calcutta with a children's charity, says she was attacked at the man's home in Central Calcutta in the early hours of Saturday morning.

She told police she was out with friends - when she met the man in a pub where she was celebrating her birthday.

A 35 year old Indian man has been arrested for questioning. He's due to appear before the Magistrates Court this Wednesday.
