Gardai in Kildare have arrested a man in connection with the murder of Larry Keane in Athy. The 56-year-old well-known dissident republican died after being attacked in the town a week ago.
This morning at 7am the 47-year-old man was detained in the Athy area.
He is being questioned at Kildare Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The body of Mr. Keane was found last Wednesday at a walkway between St. John's lane and Greenhills housing estate in Athy.
Gardaí found him with what appeared to be a wound to his head. He was taken to Naas Hospital where he subsequently died.
