A man has been arrested after a sports car crashed through the front door of a supermarket in north County Dublin this afternoon.
Witnesses said it was a 'miracle' nobody was injured after the Jaguar vehicle came to a stop halfway up the aisle of the C&T Supermarket in Skerries.
Gardaí said it happened at around 1:30pm. A man in his 40s has been arrested and the Garda investigation is ongoing.
Wholesaler Dave Morris was making deliveries in the shop at the time. He said it was "incredible no one was seriously injured."
"Thankfully everyone is safe and sound," he said. "It was a pretty harrowing experience."
"There were probably 15 people in the store; thankfully no-one was in that area when the car came through.
"There was a very loud crashing noise and banging. I threw my head around the corner and as I looked around the corner there was a car in front of us.
"The wheels were actually still spinning as it was parked; I am not sure whether his foot got caught under the accelerator or what happened."
He travelled some distance into the shop, really scary stuff. Staff were amazing, and should be really proud of themselves how they managed the situation and thier customers in the aftermath. C&T Skerries. Big Thanks to @DFBAmbulance @GardaTraffic also for getting there so quick https://t.co/wW134NYg3j pic.twitter.com/fdtnnBSKzU

He said it was extremely lucky it didn't happen at lunchtime.
"The store would have been filled with school kids and people coming and going," he said. "It would have been a lot busier and I am sure there would have been fatalities if the time had of been different.2
"It was completely unexpected; who is going to expect a car coming in the door of a store when they are doing their daily shop and picking up a few bits and pieces?"
He congratulated Gardaí and the Dublin Fire Brigade for arriving on scene so quickly.
"They were very prompt," he said.
"One of the lads in the store was in the fire brigade. I think he rang the station straight away at Skerries there and they were straight on the scene within minutes. They were really prompt."
