A man in his 30s has been assaulted during the course of an aggravated burglary that took place at a residence in Limerick City.

Three masked individuals entered the premise during the course of the incident, which took place on Friday at around nine in the evening.

The man in his 30s has been taken to Univeristy Hospital Limerick to be treated for his injuries, which are believed to be non-life threatening.

A technical examination of the scene has been conducted by Gardaí and investigations are currently ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information regarding this incident to come forward.
