A man who was attacked with a baseball bat in north Dublin last month has died in hospital. 45-year-old Taiwo Jamani was put on life support after he was beaten in broad daylight.
Main Street in Swords was brought to a standstill just before lunchtime on October 10th after a fight broke out between two men.
Traffic ground to a halt while shoppers and passersby watched on in horror as one of the men battered the other with a baseball bat.
The fight came to a brutal end after Mr. Jamani suffered a violent blow to the back of the head. Witnesses told gardai that he slumped to the ground and lost consciousness.
An ambulance was called and the Nigerian native was rushed to Beaumont Hospital where he remained in a critical condition until he lost his fight for life today.
37-year-old Jooda Akanbi from Applewood in Swords has already been charged with assault causing harm in connection with the attack.
