A man (32) in due before Cloverhill District Court this morning in connection with the death of Patryk 'Paddy' Krupa in Athlone last weekend.

The 23-year-old's body was recovered from the River Shannon last Friday night.

Lezek Scychulec of 14 Drinan, Ballymahon Co. Longford, has been charged with assaulting and falsely imprisoning Mr. Krupa.

He was also charged with threatening to kill or cause harm to Ewa Krasinska at Athlone garda station.

Mr. Scychulec will appear in court later today.
