A man has been charged after a car was hijacked in Dublin overnight.

Gardaí said the car stopped at traffic lights on the Belgard Road in Clondalkin, when a man approached with a knife.

The driver was forced to drive to another area, where he subsequently escaped.

The man, who is in his 30s, will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice tomorrow morning.
