A man has been charged after a Garda car was damaged in Monaghan this morning.
At 2am this morning, Gardaí spotted a car travelling towards the town of Carrickmacross.
The car then drove at the Garda car and Gardaí had to avoid being “deliberately struck.”
Gardaí then drove after the car and were joined by an Armed Support Unit vehicle.
After following the car through a number of villages, Gardaí claim the driver then “deliberately collided with the ASU vehicle”.
The car then stopped and two men in their 20s were arrested - one of whom was later charged.
He is due to appear before Monaghan District Court on 13th January next year.
Gardaí are calling for any witnesses to contact Castleblayney Garda Station on 042 9747900.
