A man charged with murder in Limerick 17 years ago is due to appear in court this week.
41-year-old Darragh Quinlivan, originally from the southside of Limerick City, was brought before a special sitting of Limerick District court yesterday.
He has been living in the greater Manchester area of the United Kingdom for a number of years.
The court was told Mr Quinlivan was arrested and charged with the murder of Noel Campion, which occurred on the 26th of April 2007.
Mr Quinlivan allegedly murdered Mr Campion at the junction of the High Road and the L 1066, Thomond Gate, Limerick at that date.
Mr Campion, a 34-year-old father of three from Pineview Gardens, Moy Ross Limerick, had criminal convictions including armed robbery for which he was sentenced to 14 years in prison.
Mr Campion was a pillion passenger on a motorbike that was travelling through Thomond Gate at the time he was gunned down by a mail at the junction.
Mr Quinlan's solicitor said she was not making any bail application.
Judge Harney granted the application for custody and remanded Mr Quinlivan to appear via video link before Limerick District Court on Tuesday.
