A man has appeared before a special court sitting in Limerick charged with the false imprisonment of a teenager.
Zachery Coughlan-Ryan of no fixed abode was refused bail at Limerick District Court.
He was charged with false imprisonment arising out of a botched tiger kidnapping between August 19th and August 20th.
The 36-year-old was brought to the special court sitting by armed Gardaí this morning.
Detective garda Vincent Brick of Henry Street garda station said the accused made no reply when charged with false imprisonment of 19-year-old Stephen Cusack.
Mr. Cusack – the son of a post-mistress – was kidnapped by armed gang on Sunday August 19th.
But he managed to escape from the gang the following day.
During the court hearing Judge Aeneas McCarthy refused bail for Mr. Ryan after the court heard numerous objections from Gardaí.
The accused was remanded in custody to appear in court again on September 5th.
