A 29-year-old apprentice solicitor has been charged with the murder of his father, who was found stabbed to death in his Dublin home.
Scott George, a married father of two in his 70s, was found dead on Thursday night at Tobersool Lane, near Balbriggan.
Dáire McCormack-George, with an address at Cabra Road, Phibsboro in Dublin, was brought before Dublin District Court this morning charged with murder.
Garda Ultan McElroy of Balbriggan Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
Garda McElroy said Mr McCormack-George was charged with murder around 11.30pm last night.
The court heard that Mr McCormack-George, who is a trainee solicitor, made no reply to the charge.
Defence Solicitor Danny Nolan said the 29-year-old had been diagnosed with a mental health issue and he requested a psychological evaluation.
Judge William Aylmer granted him a psychiatric assessment and any treatment that may be required while he is in custody.
He also granted Mr McCormack-George legal aid.
Judge Aylmer remanded him in custody to Cloverhill Prison to appear in court again via video link on Friday 20 December.
