A 38-year-old man charged in connection with the seizure of guns and ammunition in Drogheda, Co Louth earlier this week has been released on bail.
Andrew O'Brien - of Rathmullan Park in Drogheda - appeared before Drogheda District Court on Thursday morning.
Mr O'Brien - who works as a fireman and has volunteered with the Irish Coast Guard - is accused of being in the possession of three semi-automatic pistols and 48 rounds of ammunition at the Irish Coast Guard Station, Horse Lane, Drogheda on Wednesday November 6th.
The alleged offences relate to Section 27A of the Firearms Act.
Judge Eirinn McKiernan remanded the accused on bail on a total security of €4,000.
He is also under a number of strict conditions, including he surrender his passport and not apply for a new one, obey a curfew and sign on daily at Drogheda Garda station.
He will appear again before Drogheda District Court on January 17th of next year.
