A man has appeared at Dublin District Court over the fatal stabbing of Gerard Burnett in Mulhuddart last week.
20-year-old Andrew Gibney of Drumheath Avenue in Mulhuddart has been remanded in custody.
28-year-old Gerard Burnett was stabbed repeatedly outside the home of his girlfriend at Castlecurragh Vale not long before midnight on Tuesday last week.
The young father-of-one died soon afterwards.
One of two men arrested – Andrew Gibney – appeared in court this morning.
Dressed in a grey tracksuit he sat with his hands in his pockets as Sergeant Michael Kennedy gave evidence of his arrest at Blanchardstown Garda station at 10.20pm last night.
The court heard the he replied ‘No, nothing’ to a charge of assault causing serious harm.
He is unemployed and his solicitor Anthony Hughes applied for legal aid.
There was no bail application and Judge Denis McLaughlin has remanded him in custody to appear again next week.
