A man is due in court this morning following the alleged assault of a woman at an army barracks.

The incident is alleged to have happened in the early hours of yesterday morning at the Cathal Brugha Barracks in Rathmines.

The Defence Forces said its Military Police carried out an initial review, and the matter was then referred to Gardaí.

A man was arrested and has since been charged.

He is due before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning.
