A man charged with assault causing harm to his grandmother has applied for High Court bail.
The man’s grandmother died after being allegedly dragged down a flight of stairs and pushed out the door of a house.
Brian Nnamdi Ogbo of Garrydhu Drive, Kilmoney Road, Carrigaline, County Cork appeared at Cork District Court via video link today.
Brian Nnamdi Ogbo said he would turn up to the District Court in person on March 20th if he is granted High Court bail next Thursday after being asked by Defence Solicitor Shane Collins Daly.
Detective Tom Delaney outlined the case last week and said Ogbo - who he considered to be a flight risk - was originally arrested on suspicion of murder, following the death of his 82-year-old grandmother Stella Nnamdi at Cork University Hospital on February 25th.
The court also heard Ogbo’s mother had phoned Gardaí on Sunday, February 23rd, to say her son was attacking her and her mother and had produced a knife during the incident.
Judge Mary Dorgan was told further more serious charges could follow.
