A Dublin man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in Co. Cavan. Kevin Moran, a father-of-three, was arrested after Emmet Connolly was stabbed to death over the weekend.
Mr. Connolly died after being attacked at a house in the Cootehill area in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The 32-year-old archaeologist only returned to Ireland a fortnight ago after spending the last year and a half living in Australia. He was found with severe stab wounds and was pronounced dead a short time later.
At around 6am yesterday gardai arrested 29-year-old Kevin Moran.
He was questioned at Bailieborough Garda Station before being brought before a District Court Judge at the Criminal Courts of Justice this afternoon.
The Dublin native, who has an address at Lodge View in Cootehill in Cavan was remanded in custody to appear in court again next Friday. An application for bail will have to be heard in the High Court.
