A man charged with murdering a 33-year-old man in a sword attack in March has been charged with two further offences.

30-year-old Dylan Scannell of O’Rahilly Street, Cobh, County Cork appeared at Mallow District Court today.

Ian Baitson died at Cork University Hospital on March 19th – four days after he was attacked with a sword at a petrol station car park in Cobh.

Dylan Scannell first appeared at Midleton District Court on March 25th and has been in custody since then.

He appeared in person at Mallow District Court today where he was charged with possession of a long-bladed sword on the day in question

He was also charged with handling, transferring or possessing cash while knowing it to be the proceeds of criminal activity, at an unknown location between August 2023 and March this year.

Inspector Tony O’Sullivan applied for a two-week remand to August 13th for the service of the book of evidence.
