A man is due back in court again next month charged with dangerous driving causing the death of an eight-year-old boy in Cork.

André Ladeiro from Carrigaline died after he was struck by a car while cycling at Cork Road in the town on August 12th, 2023.

61-year-old John Moynihan of Parkanillane, Kilnatmartyra, Macroom, County Cork was formally arrested on September 12th and appeared before the District Court.

The court heard the DPP has directed trial by indictment at the Circuit Criminal Court and would consent to a signed plea for sentencing.

Today in court, barrister John Colthurst told Judge Mary Dorgan disclosures were received by the defence five days ago and asked for time to consider the prosecution’s evidence.

Judge Dorgan adjourned the case until November 28th.

Mr Moynihan did not speak during today’s brief hearing and no evidence was heard last month or today.
