A man has appeared before a special sitting of Limerick District Court, charged with endangering the lives of two gardaí, following an alleged car ramming yesterday.
Gerard Doyle, is charged with intentionally or recklessly engaging in conduct, which created a substantial risk of death or serious harm, to Garda Nicola Ryan and Garda Linda Riordan, both stationed at Henry Street garda station, Limerick.
Mr Doyle, of Brú na Grúdán, Castletroy, Limerick, is alleged to have driven a car at the two gardaí, who were in an unmarked patrol car near his home.
The 42-year old, who appeared in court, with a cast on his right hand, and 14 staples in his head, was granted free legal aid.
Judge Aeneas McCarthy remanded Mr Doyle in custody to appear before Limerick District Court again next Tuesday, when it is expected he will apply for bail.
