A 29-year-old man has appeared at Dublin District Court accused of killing Eoghan Dudley who fell under a bus in the city centre last Thursday evening.
Edward Connors with an address at Judge Darley's Hostel is charged with the manslaughter of the 28-year-old.
It is believed Mr Dudley who is originally from Rathfarnham was engaged in a row before being crushed under the wheels of a Dublin Bus at the junction of Dawson Street and Nassau Street.
Accused said it was an accident
Detective Garda Conor O'Braonain of Pearse Street Garda station gave evidence to the court that Edward Connors was charged with the killing at around 9:30pm on Saturday night and replied after caution ''I'm very sorry about him, it was an accident''.
In court today a signing interpreter was sworn in for Mr. Connors who is deaf.
The 29-year-old was dressed in a navy Le Coq Sportif tracksuit.
His solicitor Cahir O'Higgins told the court his client relies on a methadone prescription and Judge David McHugh requested that the prison authorities provide whatever medical assistance may be needed.
There was no application for bail and he has been remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court on Thursday.
