A 34-year old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his 8-year-old daughter Malika Al Katib in County Wexford.
Muhammad Shaker Al Tamimi appeared in court this evening.
He is charged with the murder of his 8-year-old daughter Malika Noor Al Katib at Lower William Street, New Ross, Co Wexford on Sunday night.
He is also charged with the attempted murder of his partner and Malika's mother Aisha Al Katib on Sunday night.
Detective Garda Donal Doyle gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
Detective Garda Dolan said he arrested Mr Al Tamimi at University Hospital Waterford just after 5pm this evening.
He was charged with Malika Al Katib’s murder and Aisha Al Katib's attempted murder.
The accused made no reply to the charges.
Judge Kevin Staunton remanded Mr Al Tamimi in custody to appear before Wexford District Court via video link on Monday 9 December.
Judge also directed that Mr Al Timimi be psychologically evaluated.
