A man has been charged with the murder of a woman in Waterford City over the weekend.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident at about 10am on Saturday morning.

Gillian Curran, who was aged in her 40s, was found unresponsive at a house on O'Brien Street on Saturday morning and pronounced dead at the scene.

At a special sitting of Gorey District Court last night, 34-year-old Marcus O'Neill of O'Brien Street, Waterford was charged with her murder.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Waterford District Court via video link tomorrow.
